Every successful estate plan begins with an initial consultation between the attorney and the client. The emphasis of this first meeting is client education and developing an individual approach to drafting documents, focused on that client’s needs and wishes.
An initial consultation lasts about an hour and a half. Although the initial consultation is often held in my office in Pasadena, I am happy to meet with clients at their homes or places of business. Contact >

Estate Planning – Estate Planning is a comprehensive, individualized process with the primary goals of avoiding Probate, planning for potential incapacity, and developing a plan to distribute the clients estate (whatever the net worth) at the client’s death. Estate Planning also includes Gift & Estate Tax planning for some clients, as well as asset protection and business succession planning.

The Law Offices of David V. Russell is a client focused Estate Planning, Trust Litigation, Trust & Probate Administration, and Small Corporate law firm, located primarily in the “Crown City” of Pasadena, California. David also offers comprehensive Estate Planning services to clients across the Golden State, from San Diego to the Silicon Valley and North Bay.
Although there are some technical goals in estate planning such as avoiding Probate and potentially planning for Gift & Estate Taxes, there are also significant human and compassionate aspects to this practice of law that can often be overlooked. Estate Planning and the implementation of a plan through the Trust Administration process can be emotionally difficult for clients. Estate Planning is also a means for clients to leave a legacy for their families, their community, and charities and institutions they hold dear. This human aspect and the civil practice of law are tenets of my practice. I assist clients in establishing their Estate Plans for the first time, or review and update existing plans.
